Team Controls
For: Agents and suppliers Where to find it: Sidebar → Team · listed under Billing → Add-Ons for reference
Team Controls is the add-on that lets you restrict what a colleague can do. Without it, everyone you invite has full access to your organisation. With it, you can put a team member on a restricted role — Admin or Basic User — and then tick exactly which features they may use.
Adding people is always free, on every plan, with no limit. Tourium charges for restriction, not for people.
What it costs
R99 per month, per restricted team member. Prices are VAT-inclusive and may change — the Team page always shows what a change costs before you confirm it.
A restricted member is anyone on the Admin or Basic User role. The full-access roles — Owner and Super Admin — are free on every plan and always will be. So a team of ten with two people restricted is R198/month, no matter how many of the other eight there are.
There is no separate "buy the module" step. Restricting your first team member is the purchase, which is why the add-on card in Billing sends you to the Team page instead of offering a switch.
Turning it on
- Go to Team.
- Change a member's role to Admin or Basic User — or invite somebody on one of those roles.
- Tourium shows you what it will cost. If your organisation has nothing to bill against yet — every supplier account is on the free plan, and so are agents on the free tier — you are taken through a short checkout that sets up billing for the add-on. Otherwise the seat is added to your existing subscription, prorated for the rest of the cycle.
- Confirm. The role and its permissions apply as soon as the payment goes through.
A restricted member starts with a small set of sensible default permissions for their role, seeded as ordinary grants — so they are visible and editable on the Team page like anything else you tick.
Freeing a seat
Loosening somebody back to a full-access role, or removing them from the team, frees their seat.
A freed seat stays paid until the end of your billing cycle, and can be reassigned in the meantime. If you loosen one person and restrict another in the same month, that costs nothing extra. Your bill drops from the next cycle.
If billing lapses
If the add-on lapses — a failed payment, or a downgrade — existing restrictions keep enforcing. Nobody silently gains access they did not have.
What you lose is the ability to restrict further: while the add-on is not active you can loosen a role but not tighten one. Restoring billing restores the full controls.
Who can do what
- Owner and Super Admin have full access to everything and bypass permission checks. They are never billed as restricted members.
- Admin and Basic User are restricted roles. What they can actually do is whatever you tick for them on the Team page.
- Managing roles and permissions needs the
team.managepermission (owners and admins have it by default). - An Owner cannot be restricted. A Super Admin can — moving somebody from Super Admin to Admin is an ordinary scoping action.
Good to know
- Permissions are per-feature and per-person, not per-role templates: two Basic Users can have entirely different access.
- Some features need a seat as well as a permission — the Itinerary Builder, Quote to Book, the CRM and the agent Tourplan integration are all billed per seat in their own right. A permission says "you may"; a seat says "your organisation is paying for you to". See the article for each add-on.
- Seat charges appear on the Billing page as an add-on line item, and one-off prorated charges show under On-demand charges on the Invoices page.
