Guided setup
For: New suppliers (and agents — see the note below) Where to find it: Automatically after you sign up; re-enter any time from the Finish setup button in the sidebar header or the dashboard card
Guided setup is a full-screen, step-by-step wizard that walks you through configuring your Tourium account. Unlike the old Setup Guide checklist, it doesn't just point you at where to go — every step happens right there in the wizard, and every piece of jargon is explained inline. Your progress is saved as you go, so you can leave and come back without losing anything.
What's required
Only one step is required: creating your brand. Everything else — inviting your team, turning on modules, uploading a rate sheet, creating a connection list — is optional and can be skipped. If you skip a step, you're asked for a quick, optional reason ("not ready yet", "not sure what this is", etc.) — this just helps us understand where the flow could be clearer.
Until you've created a brand, the Exit control in the wizard is disabled with an explanation, because Tourium needs at least one brand to be usable at all. Once your brand exists, you can leave the wizard at any point and pick up later exactly where you left off.
The steps (suppliers)
- Brand. Tell us your business name, logo, and a short description — this is the first thing agents see when they find you. Paste your website URL and Tourium will try to prefill the fields for you. If you uploaded a rate sheet before you had an account, you'll also link it to a brand here.
- Team. Invite colleagues. Supplier team members are unlimited and free.
- Modules. Turn on optional features like Dropbox or Team Controls — each one is explained with what it does and what it costs. Selecting a module here doesn't charge you yet (see Paying for what you select below).
- Connect Dropbox, if you selected it — a real connection, made right here.
- Team Controls, if you selected it — choose which team members will hold a restricted role.
- Rate sheets. Upload your pricing documents. Tourium starts extracting the details in the background immediately — you don't have to wait for it to finish before continuing. This step does not share or sign anything; it's just about getting your properties and services set up.
- Connections. Create your first connection list — a saved group of agents you can share rates with in one action later.
- Summary. A recap of everything you've set up, an itemised total for anything paid you selected, and one checkout that covers all of it. If your total is zero, there's no checkout — you're just done.
The steps (agents)
Agents see a parallel flow with agent-specific steps: Brand (required — agents hold exactly one), Team (with real seat pricing: R250/seat/month, 750 000 chat tokens included, and you only pay for seats people actually hold), Plan (Free or Standard), Modules (Rates Engine, Itinerary Builder, Tourplan Rate Sync, Team Controls, Dropbox — each with its own pricing model), the matching per-module setup steps (bulk STO agreement upload, Tourplan connection, itinerary template), and Summary.
Paying for what you select
Selecting a paid module or seat during setup doesn't charge you immediately. Every selection accumulates as you go, and the Summary step at the end prices everything into one itemised total and opens a single checkout — you're never sent to more than one payment page. If you leave for checkout and come back (or cancel), your selections are still there; nothing is lost.
Resuming
If you leave setup partway through — by closing the tab, or by clicking Exit once your brand exists — a "you left off here" banner greets you next time you open the wizard, and you land back on the step you were on.
Explaining terms as you go
Anywhere you see a word with a dotted underline (like "brand" or "rate sheet"), you can hover or tap it for a plain-language explanation — what it means and where it applies. There's also a full glossary at Help → Glossary if you want to browse every term at once.
What happens when you finish
Once you complete or exit setup, you land on your Dashboard, and that's also when Tourium's platform tour kicks in to show you around the rest of the app. The two no longer compete for your attention — setup teaches you how to configure your account, and the tour teaches you where things are once it's configured.
Tips
- Nothing in setup is a one-time-only chance — every step mirrors a settings page you can revisit later (Team, Modules, Brand, Connections, and so on).
- The rate sheet step never blocks you — if extraction is still running, the sidebar just shows "Extracting…" and you can carry on to the next step.
- A support link with
?step=in the URL takes you straight to a specific step, useful if someone on the Tourium team is helping you troubleshoot.
